Chairperson Update - Spring 2025

I had the pleasure of attending the annual Reiki Retreat weekend at Tauhara in June. Even though it is not hosted by Reiki NZ, it has always been at the heart of the Reiki community. I have felt nurtured, nourished and renewed after stepping off the planet with the beautiful souls that are part of our Reiki community.

We have recently held our Annual General Meeting (AGM). It covered a lot of ground and was a significant event in the history of Reiki NZ. We now have a new Constituition as required by the Incorporated Societies Act 2022. The members have also approved a new category of membership called 'Accredited Reiki Professional' (ARP). ARP has been talked about for many years and we are finally putting a line in the sand. This is the visible beginning of a process that we hope to hone over future years. We are aiming for ACC accreditation which will be significant for those who work as Reiki Practitioners.

Reiki referrals are currently up to the ACC case manager who has a $500 discretionary fund. Obtaining ACC accreditation will allow clients to make their own decision. There have been recent developments with ACC which give us hope for a favourable outcome.

The next major biennial event will be the Reiki Masters Gathering at Vaughan Park Retreat Centre in Auckland in October. Planning has been going well and it is shaping up to be an amazing event.

The Southland Reiki Retreat will be holding its 11th Retreat in November. Planning has been going well for this too.

The Board has been focusing on next year's biennial Conference. This highlights how much preparation is required well in advance to host a large event with international speakers. So much to look forward to.

Before I sat down to write this report I had attended the weekly Reiki share. I feel so blessed to have Reiki in my life, especially in these challenging times and even more blessed to be part of the Reiki community. You are also the fortunate ones.
